On March 9, we hosted our bi-annual BIG tasting. The Panorama Deck at the Emporio witnessed a jam packed blind tasting of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to 100 Horeca professionals, presented by Konstantin Baum MW. This was followed by a large tasting of California Wines.

The wines were tasted including a European surprise bottle. The tasters were impressed with the wine styles from 4 different AVA’s providing much variety and food friendly alternative for premium Burgundy. After the Master class, 100 wineries presented over 650 wines to the visiting trade. A special focus table presented the popular wines from the Panel tasting, whilst the US Meat Federation provided much appreciated Prime Rib for exhibitors and guests. Timing for this year’s BIG Tastings was critical as many wineries were forced to cancel their trip due to the upcoming uncertainty of the COVID-19 virus. Despite the travel limitations, the tasting was extremely well visited with over 250 guests.
