We are thrilled to have Elaine Chukan Brown joining us for Wine Paris 2026! Elaine serves as an author, speaker, and global wine educator. Elaine reviews Napa Valley and NE Spain for Wine Enthusiast, and their book The Wines of California was published in Spring 2025. They have contributed to the 4th and 5th editions of the Oxford Companion to Wine, the 8th and upcoming 9th editions of The World Atlas of Wine, as well as the compilations On Burgundy, and On California. Elaine is Chair of Judges for the 67 Pall Mall Global Communicator Awards. Elaine will be leading three engaging seminars on ageability of California wines. Featuring unique varietals from Sonoma County and demonstrating differences between high elevation and valley floor wines. 11:00 - California Past & Future: The Legacy of The Paris Tasting (presented by Elaine Chukan Brown) BY SPECIAL INVITATION ONLY Comparing recent to older vintages of several of the original 1976 Paris tasting wineries, including Chateau Montelena, Clos du Val and Ridge Vineyards, as well as Robert Mondavi Winery - To Kalon. This seminar takes place in the Wine Paris Seminar Room #2. 12:00 - Spectrum & Style of Napa Valley Chardonnay (presented by Peter Wilmert of Hudson Ranch) Explore the full range of Napa Valley Chardonnay. See how site, clone, elevation and winemaking approach lead to distinct styles from crisp and mineral to rich and rounded. We’ll frame Chardonnay as a window into Napa Valley’s climate, soil and stylistic ambition. You’ll gain perspective on how one grape can be so many personalities, and how Chardonnay contributes to Napa’s identity beyond reds. You’ll taste four Chardonnays from Napa producers chosen to illustrate contrasting styles. Each wine will help you understand and communicate the breadth of Napa Valley Chardonnay to buyers and collectors. 13:30 - The Sands of Lodi: How Soil Shapes a Region (presented by Stuart Spencer) The Mokelumne River AVA, at the heart of Lodi, was formed by ancient Sierra Nevada river deposits that left behind deep, well-drained sandy soils. We will examine how sand influences vine health and aromatic character and how these soils produce wines of fragrance, freshness, and finesse, from bright whites to perfumed reds, and discover why the sands of Lodi remain one of California’s most distinctive terroirs. 15:00 - The Paso Robles AVA – A soil and climate study (presented by Chris Taranto, Billy Grant: McPrice Myers Wines, Janell Dusi: J Dusi Wines, Barry White: Ancient Peaks Winery, Peter Twiss: PIUS Wines) How soils and micro-climates create different growing conditions in Paso Robles’ AVAs. 17:00 - Aged Wines of California (presented by Elaine Chukan Brown) fully booked Wine aging explained – Older vintage wines of six leading wineries demonstrate the ageing potential of California wines.
